Pardon the brutal language, but there’s no other way to describe the cowardly act of RMN muckraker Rhod Tecson in seeking an audience with Secretary Raul Gonzalez last weekend to plead for help with the libel case filed against him by Dr. Evangeline Johnson of Saviour International Hospital.
The guy was literally trembling with fear, according to witnesses, at the prospect of being sent to jail because of his rotten and foul language over the airlanes, and he was begging Gonzalez, whom he had attacked and attacked mercilessly (although I would say rightly so) in the past.
I can’t understand what he expected from Gonzalez now that the case is before the court. Has he filed a petition for review? Why doesn’t he argue his case before the court and prove his innocence? Does he realize that he is certain to be convicted because of the libelous utterances that he made? Ack, the courageous knight in shining armor was an ugly sight with his tail between his legs. He licked the ass of Gonzalez rather than stand for his principle.
In my career as a mediaman, I faced dozens and dozens of libel cases. Not once did I ask for the help of then DOJ secretary Franklin Drilon. Nor with the other DOJ secretaries I had the occasion to know personally after the EDSA revolution. There was one case in which I had to apologize, but it was directly to the person who had charged me in court — the late Rodolfo Ganzon. The honorable thing to do when you commit a wrong is apologize to the person you had slandered or libelled, and not to beg for powerful individuals to work for its dismissal.
This act betrays the true character, or rather the character flaws, of Rhod Tecson. He knows no bounds in heaping verbal abuse on his targets, but when he is threatened, he is quick to deal with the devil. Would you call Rhod Tecson a man of principle? Right now, even Gonzalez sneers at the cowardly act that he displayed.
With this ass-licking episode, my regard for Rhod Tecson has plummeted to the bottom of the sea. Pweh!

Rhod doesn’t know it, but Raul Gonzalez is making him an example of how cowards behave in the face of the slightest danger. Put him in the line of fire, and he would start wetting his pants as if there was a deluge. His financial backers are also complaining that he is like a leech that sucks their blood endlessly. This guy has a heart colored black.

Rhod is a hypocrite. He blasts at fellow mediamen for allegedly selling off their principles. He is worse — he sells his soul at rock-bottom bargain prices. He even prostituted himself to Boboy Syjuco by doing emceeing work during a Christmas party for barangay captains in the 2nd district. The Garins boast that when Rhod needs to “load” his cell phone, he is quick to fire off a message to the first district for a P300 load. Sobra naman kabarato! He’s a member of the kuratong baleleng of media.

When a coward is exposed, his tendency would be is to thump his chest and proclaim his courage. This is what Rhod Tecson is doing. A friend called me just a while ago to tell me that Rhod has been shouting to the world that he did not lick the ass of DOJ secretary Gonzalez till his voice became hoarse. Unfortunately, courage is displayed through acts, not words. Words are empty.
Try to see who among the politicians of Iloilo are being spared Rhod’s sewage-laced tongue. Does he ever attack the Garins? How about Boboy Syjuco? Or Rolex Suplico? Or Ferj Biron? Too bad, at a young age, Rhod has deteriorated into the most corrupt media practitioner. He belongs to that breed called A/C, D/C, short for attack-and-collect, defend-and-collect.

The sight of Rhod Tecson on his knees, begging for the pardon of Justice secretary Raul Gonzalez, would have made it as “picture of the year” had his aides been quick enough to capture the image. I make that declaration on the basis of the popularity of this blog post about Rhod Tecson. It’s hard to understand it, but everyday, more than 10 readers visit the site and tickle their imaginations with this story about how the arrogance of Rhod Tecson evaporated just to beg for the help of Gonzalez. I’m sure this is one of the happiest episodes in the official life of Raul Gonzalez.

Hi Sir,
Media people are supposed to be unbiased people and we as watchers/listeners expect them to always stand up on everything that comes out of their mouths, their opinions, whether what they’re saying are right or wrong. Not go on reverse when somebody stood up against them. Rhod Tecson said the wrong things and now he’s asking for help. This guy is always talking about justice for everyone and now he’s seeking help from Gonzalez? Why? He’s always talking about ‘everyone is entitled to the due process of law’ but now he’s doing this things? As a citizen, I’m very disappointed. Is this how our mediamen act nowadays?
Like you said Sir, he should just seek an audience with Dr. Evangeline Johnson instead because the good doctor just might change her mind and take back the libel case. His pride is way up there when it comes to the doctor but he had the guts to ask for help from GonzaleZ?! He’s just fanning the flame. Let’s see what happens.

He growls and snarls and hisses when his targets are not fighting back, but the moment one does fight back, as Dr. Johnson did, he curls his tail between his legs and mews like a kitten. He will swallow his own bile if that’s what’s needed to save his ass. I am glad that Ilonggos like you have discovered the real personality of this coward.

I was checking something and got linked here…hmmm..interesting. Rod Tecson thinks he is God’s gift to women (and corrupt politicians – you are right, he brags alliance with the bigwigs you mentioned). He even has a fake marriage courtesy of that fat mayor married to the female version of Pinnochio. Surprised you, did I? Yup, ask Rod’s media pimp FH…short for Fucking Hazard! If Pinocchia’s imaginations are true, Rod and FH does it in the dark every now and then as most slime-bugs do. I should know. I almost swallowed Rod. Ack!
