Syjuco demolishes Mejorada’s house
By DAVID ISRAEL SINAY
ILOILO – Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Augusto Syjuco Jr. allegedly “ordered the demolition” of a farm house of a top provincial government official in Alimodian for alleged fear of losing his “conjugal dictatorship” in politics in the Second District of Iloilo.
Iloilo Provincial Administrator Manuel Mejorada claimed Syjuco and wife, Rep. Judy Syjuco, ordered the “illegal demolition” of his farm house at Sitio Balogo, Brgy. Pajo in Alimodian in an attempt to “exclude” him from the Second District so “they would not lose their conjugal dictatorship.”
“This is an act of cowardice on the part of the Syjuco couple who are afraid of being challenged in a fair and clean election even by a penniless opponent, knowing that the people’s anger and frustration over the massive corruption and zero performance in the Second District will defeat the power of their wealth,” Mejorada stressed.
He related that he was surprised to see that his farm house was no longer there when he visited the place yesterday. He said he regularly visits the place to check his vegetables and other crops.
He immediately reported the incident to the Alimodian Police Station.
According to Mejorada, he talked to Ireneo Mondero, the owner of the property and an employee of TESDA, and the latter admitted to him that he “initiated the demolition.”
He said the “demolition” happened on August 17 yet but he was not informed.
“Mondero took the law into his own hands by demolishing the house in obedience to the extreme pressure from his employer, Boboy Syjuco,” Mejorada claimed, adding, “the Syjucos are showing that they will resort to illegal methods and ugly practices just to forcibly remove any possible challenge to their incumbency in the Second District of Iloilo.”
The provincial administrator said he has been planning to buy Mondero’s property, which the latter offered to him last year.
“The purpose (of demolishing my house) is to remove my residence and set the stage for an exclusion petition against me as a voter of Brgy. Pajo,” he alleged.
Mejorada said that when he paid Mondero the initial amount and had constructed his house in the area, the latter was hired by Syjuco at TESDA.
He said he will file criminal charges against Mondero and the Syjuco couple for “conspiring and confederating to demolish his house.”
The Syjucos could not be reached for comment./PN
