The media has never before achieved the kind of influence on the lives of people as it has done now.

Almost every aspect of human behavior is being shaped by the barrage of information and knowledge that comes to us in all avenues of media: radio, television, newspapers and magazines, and the internet. Even our cell phones are becoming conduits for information. in the modern world, there is no almost no place where information cannot reach you.

The power of media is simply awesome.

It becomes a big concern, therefore, when the purveyors of news and information lack the basic competencies to perform their work reasonably well. What they write about or speak about, how they write or speak, assume a far bigger importance than most people think.

In Iloilo, there is a “star” reporter who is corrupting the profession of journalism by making it appear that she is a legitimate media person when in truth and in fact, she is a propagandist. She is a “star” because she writes for two tabloids in Iloilo. She also hosts a cable TV program. And she has in her stable a group of equally corrupt and unprofessional reporters.

I have nothing against the PR profession. It is a legitimate profession and deserves respect. But PR and straightforward journalism do not mix. They are like oil and water. Pretending to be a journalist when propaganda work is what you are doing is a big disservice to the people.

But worse is the lack of basic writing skills in pursuing this craft of news writing.

This propagandist should go back to first grade and learn the fundamentals of writing. It’s horrible. Just read any copy of “The News Today”, and it’s easy to see that this is not an exaggeration. I’m surprised the editors of the newspaper allow these articles to be published. All the basic rules of news writing are being broken. The grammar is terrible. The writing is sloppy.

Well, it could be that the editors of the paper aren’t any better. After all, the responsibility for everything that comes out in a newspaper falls on the shoulders of the editor. In almost every newspaper worthy of its name, editors painstakingly scrutinize “copy”, which is the journalism term for a news story that’s been submitted, not only for accuracy of facts, balance and objectivity, but also to make sure that the rules of the English language are followed. Poorly written news articles give a bad name for the newspaper.

When I was editor of The Daily Times, and then SunStar Iloilo Daily, I spent a great amount of time checking and double-checking each copy. I was aware of my responsibility to our readers. I was also aware that I owed it to the reporters to teach them the correct way of writing. It would not be an empty boast to say that this was the method that developed outstanding journalists like the late Ivan P. Suansing, Lemuel T. Fernandez, Nereo Lujan and many others.

If this propagandist were working under me as editor, I would have exerted extra efforts to teach her the rudiments of good writing. I’ve always believed that a good editor can sharpen a young writer’s abilities. But then this propagandist has been in media for nearly two decades. The adage that “you can’t teach old dogs new tricks” comes to mind. Thus, if I were editor, I would ask her to pursue a different career. She is a hopeless case.

What frightens me about the activities of this propagandist is that she might plant the wrong ideas in the minds of readers. Because of the access she is given to readers, she might purvey the impression that this kind of bad writing is the acceptable standard. Young writers trying to find role models might stumble upon her works and embrace her style of writing. That would be disastrous to the future of Iloilo journalism.

I will devote more time to playing the role of “ombudsman” on the blunders and mistakes of this propagandist and her ilk. It will be a test to my patience just to read her articles, but if this is the way to save journalism in Iloilo, I will do it. What her editors cannot do, I will do. This is a great service to the media profession.

I would invite journalism students to visit this page every so often. it will be an instructional experience.

  1. I will post here the text message from a young idealistic broadcaster in reaction to this article:

“I’ve read media watch sir… It’s gud to knw dat a page dedicated to upholding mass media ethics is integrated into ur blog.”

  2. A basic rule in newspaper reporting is that the writer should exert every effort to get his/her information first hand. In this age of modern communications, this is not really too difficult. News sources can usually be reached by cell phone. The important thing is that the reporter gets the information directly from the source.
Thus, our “star” reporter displays her laziness when she wrote the story “Cops hunt killers of American nat’l in Arevalo brutal slay.”
She merely lifted the story from watching a TV broadcast about the murder. She did not even bother to call the Arevalo police station to get the facts.
This might be pardonable if the scene of the crime was located in a remote mountain barangay, and only the TV station had gone there.
    But this happened in Arevalo.
This is a classic case of a reporter trying to meet his/her “quota” of news stories for the day.
Instead of pounding the beat in search for stories, the “star” reporter just sat in front of the TV set and pirate news stories.
    Terrible, terrible, terrible.

  4. Broadcasting is not just about voice quality. The soul of a broadcaster is his or her credibility. And this takes shape over a long period of time. It is carefully nourished and nurtured. Just look at the Philippine media industry: those who endure are those who endeavored hard to be objective, fair and accurate in their reporting.
The likes of Tecson have a hollow understanding of their profession. They seek popularity, and they resort to all means and methods, no matter how foul, in their effort to attain that. They attack people. They make up stories. They titillate the public imagination. For a short while, this strategy might work. But it’s like skating on thin ice; at any moment, the surface will crack, and the skater will come crushing down.

  5. Mr. Mejorada wrote: “Broadcasting is not just about voice quality.” Indeed, this is a misconception that is prevalent in the radio industry. Announcers think it’s just their voice quality — solid and coming from the gut — that’s important. What counts more is the substance. Voice is just the form. More important is the accuracy of the facts presented.
But as I listen to radio broadcasts every day when I drive to work, radio announcers often neglect this point. They try to beat the competition to the news and don’t bother to double check their information. I find this irresponsible. The listener ends up being confused.
Worse, the broadcasters don’t study and expand their base of knowledge. This narrows their perspective, giving rise to wrong interpretation of events and conclusions. I think radio networks should make it a requirement for regular anchormen to attend seminars and conferences to broaden their knowledge.
I agree that media wields tremendous power and influence over society. Hence, it’s important that only those who are competent and knowledgeable are allowed to possess that power and influence.
I have been to America and I can tell you that radio announcers are highly respected because of their knowledge and experience. To them, it’s not just about voice ala-Noli de Castro. By their standards, Noli de Castro would not qualify to even handle a sign-on or sign-off program.

  6. from the blog stats, i can readily see that this page is fast becoming the favorite of many people. indeed, it is likely to be a lively discussion board about media. active media professionals and students can regularly turn to this page for interesting insights about the profession. it will shape into a bottomless resource to guide both professionals and students to becoming better journalists.

i have invited old friends from my active media days to drop a line and contribute to the discussion. i want to elevate the level of debate about media to substantive issues, and not just quarrel about surveys. even the likes of hibionada, tecson, gencianeo, and guazo can consider this one-on-one coaching opportunities and learn from the experience of veterans.

  7. we all know that the media, be it in Iloilo or somewhere else in the country, can hardly make ends meet. but then they should have realized before entering the community that they have to observe ethical rules to protect their names, the institution they work for and of course the community.
it saddens me to think that even the so-called hard hitting practitioners who are supposed to be partial and factual in their reports and analyses are actually power trippers and paid hacks. one can only imagine how Graciano Lopez-Jaena is squirming in his still missing grave with the corruption that is creeping into the community he loved and nurtured through his brilliant writings.
i hope i am wrong but Iloilo deserves the kind of media it has right now because outlets who try to be fair and balanced do not get enough support from the community. just go to other cities and communities where the local media are supported through legitimate ads, and you will notice that the practitioners are very level-headed and go out of their way to get all sides to the story they discuss.
but all is not lost for Iloilo as we believe that there are still those who will strive to elevate the quality of the Iloilo media. and may the force be with them.
    Salaam Aleikum!

  8. Yes, indeed, Iloilo deserves a good media. The media is a reflection of the community. Don’t despair. The situation is not hopeless. When people learn the truth about the likes of Hibionada and company, they will simply stop reading or listening to them. The market forces will go to work. With less listenership or readership, their organizations will lose revenues, and when income falls, these corrupt “crusaders” will have no way else to go but out. This already happened to Tecson and Guazo at Bombo Radyo.

  9. The problem with these broadcasters is that they want to use it as a path to riches. In a manner of speaking, they are like Noel Ojoy, who exploited his position as immigration inspector to extort money from foreign nationals. They are as equally corrupt as the corruption they denounce in government. Perhaps this is a reason why corruption has worsened: the so-called watchdogs in media are engaged in extortion and AC/DC activities.

  11. the likes of tecson, guazo and gencianeo underestimate the intelligence of radio listeners. the filth and foul language that they spew over the airlanes is a direct insult to their own audience. they believe that their listeners like animal dung, and that’s the content of their broadcasts. what they don’t realize is that this kind of radio audience is getting smaller and smaller. most radio listeners are repelled by their brand of broadcast journalism. perhaps they don’t realize it, but the size of their listenership is getting thinner and thinner.

the termination (no, “booting out” is more apt) of tecson and guazo from bombo radyo is a manifestation of that theory that their survey ratings were suffering from a free-fall. dr. roger florete is a businessman before anything else. had the brand of broadcasting practiced by tecson and guazo attracted big listenership, dr. florete would have even rewarded them with bonuses to keep them happy. but the survey results don’t lie —- bombo radyo’s position in the number one position was getting tenuous. the ratings of tecson and guazo were plummeting. their termination was really a business decision; throw out the rotten apple before this contaminates the whole organization.

that’s why it never bothered me that tecson and guazo, with help from gencianeo, attacked me relentlessly for more than three years now. by wasting their entire program slots on below-the-belt attacks against me, they were also turning away their own listeners. fewer and fewer people were listening to them, and those who stuck it out are people who are angry with me in the first place.

that’s also the reason why despite their vicious attacks against governor tupas, the affable and kind-hearted governor kept winning by huge landslides, first in 2004 against garin, and second in 2007 against armada. these victories were really a vote of no-confidence on these broadcasters. the people of iloilo were saying: ok, you guys, you’ve said more than enough bad things about tupas, but we’ll show you you don’t have an ounce of credibility left. that’s the biggest insult broadcasters can get.

  15. A former colleague of Rhod Tecson relates this story that is related to the nasty comment of “Noli555″:

“Rhod Tecson has always wanted to appear on television. He feels that radio has become too small for him. So he and his friend Edwin Laruan arranged to get their weekend program, ‘Good Mornng, Philippines’, on television by hooking up with the CPU channel. Florete didn’t really mind, because he saw this as an opportunity to attract the huge deposits of CPU to Queen Bank.

“After a few airings of the program, Florete found out that the CPU deposits were not being transferred to Queen Bank, and he got mad. He confronted Rhod Tecson, Novie Guazo and Laruan and gave them a piece of his mind.

“‘Ikaw, Rhod, kon mag-gwa sa TV itsura mo, ka-itum-itum sa imo, ngipon mo lang ang kita-on. Daw ati ikaw nga nagtalang sa studio sang CPU tv channel.”

“This insult was the last straw that broke the camel’s back,” my friend told me. Rhod Tecson can take all kinds of insults from his employer, but he could not accept being called “ka-itum-itum” and “ati”. So when Florete fired him, Tecson was really much too happy to leave. He could not stand an employer who dares tell him the truth.

They were quiet at the height of the controversy over the P6.2 million ghost purchase of cell phones by Cong. Syjuco. About three years ago, Rhod and Novie proudly performed the role as emcees during the Christmas program of Syjuco at Sarabia Manor. 19. My day brightened when I opened the office copy of The News Today. For the first time in a long time, there was not a single news story written by Florence Hibionada! What a relief! At least I was able to read straight news, and not rubbish propaganda. If I were the editor of the newspaper, I would send Hibionada back to Journalism 101. Her work cannot even meet the standards for first year masscom students. Where did she finish her masscom?

  20. I was told about the personal attacks made by Rhod Tecson against his former colleague at Bombo, Don Dolido. The attacks focused on the physical attributes of Dolido. Rhod, as usual, claimed that he is “guapo”. He said Dolido is “law-ay”.

This kind of commentary breaks my heart. This is a total waste of the airtime that’s placed in the hands of Tecson. What relevance does being “guapo” and “law-ay” have on society? What difference does it make on the lives of listeners if all the girls in the world were swooning over Tecson? Tecson has become an icon for the dregs of the media industry. He and Guazo are destroying the fundamental principles of press freedom and right to information.

Tecson should realize by now that this is not the path to gaining the biggest audience share in the radio surveys. The fact that his station remains in the cellar of the survey ratings should tell him that something is terribly wrong. And that something is him.

    August 23, 2008 at 12:33 am

  21. What makes a professional journalist? That’s the question posed by Noli555.

The question cannot be answered in a brief post. What I will do is post a series of articles on the subject, so that our friends in the media can ponder upon the ideas and maybe contribute their own opinions. I was told that many media practitioners in Iloilo and even around the country are keeping tabs on this thread. Consider this my little contribution to the profession.

The first attribute of the professional journalist is passion. There must be a love for media work that should rise aboove any other motivation. He or she should not pursue the trade to become rich, but rather out of a burning desire to help people.

About 19 years ago, the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Florida granted me a fellowship to attend a seminar on media ethics, and it was there that I first came across the phrase “fire in the belly.” This is how passion should be driving every journalist. This is what should motivate the professional journalist to pursue the truth regardless of the obstacles that may stand in the way. this is what should inspire him or her to keep on amassing more knowledge to become better writers or broadcasters.

The opportunities for learning are almost limitless in this world of the internet. Almost everything that one needs to know is at his or her fingertips. Things were vastly different 20 years ago. Back then, even the task of writing was tedious. News stories had to be written on typewriters, and editing involved a lot of “cut and paste” and typing over with “xxxx” words and sentences that need to be taken out of the page. “Cut and paste” was literally cut and paste, because editors used a pair of scissors to cut out portions of the page and paste corrected material to hold them together.

But the difficulties did not discourage us from seeking to perfect the craft. it made us work harder, but I think it turned out to be better for us.

This is something modern-day journalists should exploit. With laptops and the internet. writing and sending copy to the newsroom is much easier. The opportunities for learning and sharpening your competencies are just hanging in the air for you to grab.

  22. For two nights now, I have been watching the pre-convention coverage of CNN and BBC for the Democratic Party convention in Denver, Colorado starting Monday, Aug. 25. I couldn’t help but be amazed at the extensive research and background material to help viewers understand this big event that ushers in the presidential campaign for the November 2008 elections. The reporting literally spoon feeds the viewers with information about the major political parties in the U.S. and broaden their perspective about the entire process.

This is the kind of paradigm shift, even if only to a much smaller degree, that I’m hoping to see in the radio industry in Iloilo. Radio needs to elevate the level of discussion from who is more “guapo” to what needs to be done to enhance the competitiveness of Iloilo, for instance. Or how to solve the high cost of power.

But I guess the likes of Rhod Tecson and Novie Guazo find the intellectual challenge that this kind of broadcasting would demand beyond their mental capacities. They might forever be locked to the concept of measuring their success by the number of text messages they get telling them how handsome they are. This is the misfortune of listeners of RMN.

Bombo and Aksyon Radyo and DYSI Super Radyo are showing signs that they are headed this way, and this must be encouraged. Leave the ego-tripping to Tecson and Guazo and focus on the bigger challenges for the industry.

Or the abuses of the Sara municipal administrator. Or the warlordism of Mayor Tali Salcedo. And especially not about the grave embarrassment of Vice Governor Rolex T. 25. It must be frustrating for Rhod Tecson and Novie Guazo to have expended so much firepower against Governor Niel Tupas and provincial administrator Manuel “boy” Mejorada over the last several years, and yet hardly cause a ripple in changing the public perception about these officials.

I agree that this is a loud manifestation of the poor credibility that these broadcasters possess, and this is also an indication that there is no other way for them to go but down. What will happen to them if RMN finally wakes up to reality and follow the lead of Florete? That would spell the end of their careers in media.

But then, Tecson and Guazo couldn’t care less. all they want is to amass wealth while still young so they can leave the industry with a fortune. Why sacrifice? Why take care of their credibility when the money is there for the taking?

Apparently, the other issues such as the extortion racket of the Salcedos don’t have space in their programs because they get a share of the loot. How else could you explain their silence? or maybe they are cowards, and they are afraid the Salcedos will silence their mouths.

I am willing to be educated on this last point.

  26. Manuel Mejorada posted something about a paradigm shift that the local broadcasters need to do in order to enhance their craft.

I completely agree with that, in fact the days of bombastic and hyperactive radio commentators are slowly dying. Today, listeners are more choosy and are more particular to the content rather than the delivery of the material. Several years ago, it was a question of who has the better voice today, it boils down on who could dissect the issues better.

Rhoderick and Novie lacks the intellectual wisdom to recognize this fact.

    Ilonggo Reporter

    August 27, 2008 at 12:43 pm

  27. In fairness to Rhod Tecson and Novie Guazo, they possess the intellectual capability to make sense out of the chaos that’s swirling around us and guide listeners to sift the grain from the chaff with regard to information.

The problem is that they neglected to develop this potential and took the easier path of laziness and ego-tripping. They were dazzled by the easy money that their early popularity brought, and they thought their stay at the top was going to be forever. This gave them the wrong idea that they could do no wrong, and they could abuse their prerogatives as broadcasters without having to pay for it.

Experience has shown that this kind of glittery success doesn’t last long. Quick to rise to the summit, but the crash is also equally as rapid. There’s a loud thud to the fall. The chances for recovery is almost nil.

What lessons can be learned from this experience?

First, success must always be tempered by humility. Never allow air to go to your head. Success can be intoxicating if one doesn’t know how to handle it. The successful people I admire are humble, never arrogant.

Second, don’t stop studying and learning to enhance your competence as a journalist. This starts with the acknowledgment that your present knowledge is limited, and the only way to increase that knowledge is to keep reading and listening. Once you start thinking that you are the only one who is right, then the problem sets in. You refuse to accept ideas that run contrary to yours and insist only on what you believe is right. This is precisely what happened to Tecson and Guazo.

Third, you could never go wrong by adhering to the basic tenets of objectivity, fairness and accuracy as a broadcast journalist. With this mental framework, you would be able to dig deeper into every issue and arrive at the truth. You will strive to draw out the clashing opinions on the issue and guide the public discussion. This will help crystallize the issues and help the public achieve a better understanding of what is happening.

I am hoping that the younger generation of journalists get to read this thread. This will be our contribution to raising the level of professionalism and competence of the media industry in Iloilo. This applies both to the broadcast and print media.

  28. this just came through the grapevine: only recently, the radio mindanao network (rmn) gathered its top anchormen and managers to a conference in mambucal, negros occidental. surprisingly, the network’s executives articulated pretty much the same sentiments as i have expressed about the overdose of the attack and attack mentality of rmn’s overrated, and yet bottom dwellers in the surveys, commentators — rhod tecson and novie guazo.

according to the source, a top-level executive of the network posed this question to the assembly: “bakit atake na lang ng atake ang alam ninyo? wala na ba kayong ibang masasabi?” clearly, rmn’s management is aware that this brand of radio commentary is losing its attraction and audiences are demanding for more substance in their programs.

after hearing this statement, novie guazo reportedly whispered to a colleague from another city: “na, amo gid ina ang ginahimo ni rhod!” unknown to him, rhod tecson also cast a derisive glance in novie’s direction, and muttered, “abaw, si novie gid ang gina-igo sang amo nga hambal!”

She was collecting her fees for the propaganda work she and her group has done for the mayor. Basically, it’s to hit the mayor’s enemies.

It happened that Pavia mayor Arcadio Gorriceta was there at another table. He asked me who the lady was, and I told him it was Florenz Hibionada. “Ah, she’s the one who arranged the black propoganda against me about two years ago,” mayor Gorriceta remarked.

That remark struck me as significant. So the notoriety of this lady is widespread. You pay her, and she takes care of spreading false propaganda against your enemies.

  33. Another insider from RMN. During their conference in Negros occidental, they were actually advised to stop lambasting their former employers. Nanotice guro sang mga executives nila nga mas masami pa nga mabatian and tinaga nga “Bombo” sang sa “RMN” sa ila nga mga programa. For the management of RMN, that is a total waste of airtime. Siguro wala pa gid man naka “get over” si Nong Novi kag si Nong Rhod sa pag split nila sa Bombo. Daw mga laki nga ginbreakan sang ila mga nobya.

  34. in psychology, that’s what you call clinging to the past. (hehehe, i don’t really know the exact term, but this is closest to being precise about the emotional flaw). some people refuse to accept reality, especially when they lose something very important to them. rhod and novie must have thought they were going to rule the world through bombo. they knew that bombo was going to be their passport to greater glory and popularity. without warning, the rug was pulled from under their feet. they fell with a big thud! in their subconscious, they keep telling themselves this isn’t right. bombo was theirs as a matter of right. that’s why they hit florete hard. they can’t accept the truth that the fault lies in them, not in florete.

  35. Yesterday, Sept. 13, I saw Florenz talking with a municipal mayor from the 5th district at the Grand Hotel. No, she wasn’t doing an interview with this mayor.

I’m surprised that Nestor Burgos of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and The News Today allows his name to appear side by side with that of Florenz in the TNT.”

WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… THE CAT IS OUT FOR TALIB FLORENCE HIBIONADA, THE AUTISTIC WRITER COZ SHE’S THE ONLY ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS HER REPORT. FEELING INVESTIGATIVE WHEN ALL SHE CAN MUSTER IS GIBBERISH LOST IN EXTORTION TENDENCIES… MIRISI MO FLORENCE…. SIGEHA RACKET DA. YOU GIVE ILOILO MEDIA A BAD NAME AND REPUTATION. TO ALL MASSCOM/JOURN STUDENTS, BLACK LIST NYO FLORENCE HIBIONADA. SHE WILL MAKE YOU A PAWN FOR HER EXTORTION/AC-DC RACKETS. TOO BAD, MR BURGOS IS WITH NUJP WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO UPHOLD RESPONSIBILITY. I AGREE WITH MR. MEJORADA, WHY IS IT THAT MR. BURGOS ALLOWS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH HIBIONADA VIA THE NEWS TODAY (HECK THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE LEGIT NEWS TO BOOT)? HAHAHAHAHAHA

  36. Mr. Mejorada wondered why a reporter allowed his name appear side by side with Florenz of TNT. It might be something like this…

I heard about this ‘talibmuti’, a ‘penguin-like (Batman’s arch enemy) media-pimp’ (for setting up a ‘racketeers troop’), and that she might have influenced the guy.

    WHEN MONEY TALKS, EVERYBODY LISTENS.

It may not necessarily apply to everybody but the majority of writers, if not all, at this ‘bomb-newspaper’ (hahaha…a friend told me that a ‘bomb’ is followed by a flush in the toilet) are likely swayed by the glitter of money.

For example, the guy bombarded in several news articles the hospital in Molo District for alleged irregularities involving its owner….the expose was suddenly terminated.

    WHY?

I would pressume, the guy was able to taste the riches of the ‘racketeers troop’ — Talibmuti, Owl Howler, Black Racketeer, Manay Roger and JDLeon (which happens to be so close to the hospital owner), among others.

    PITY THEM!

  37. there’s a saying that all it takes is a single rotten apple in a basket to infect and damage the entire bunch… maybe this is the same principle that would threaten the credibility of nestor burgos. it’s really a shame that a good reputation should be sullied by simple association with a notorious media racketeer…. wake up, nestor!

  38. did you notice that in the controversy over the “dakal-dakal” road project in pavia, iloilo, florenz and her group stayed away from the issue? florenz is paid by the syjucos, that’s why. this is true, peks man!

  39. Ilonggo Reporter gave us this info: “Another insider from RMN. During their conference in Negros occidental, they were actually advised to stop lambasting their former employers. Nanotice guro sang mga executives nila nga mas masami pa nga mabatian and tinaga nga “Bombo” sang sa “RMN” sa ila nga mga programa.”

I am certain the network’s top executives know the business of broadcasting isn’t about settling personal vendettas with filthy, unethical, below-the-belt attacks over the airlanes. But I guess this directive will simply fall on deaf ears. Rhod and Novie still delude themselves into believing that RMN owes them a favor by getting them as anchors. Their loyalty isn’t to the network but to themselves. I will not be surprised if the network management will follow what Florete has done — kick their asses out of the RMN 774 station.

  40. the floodgates have been opened… more information about novie guazo and rhod tecson.

on novie: during a recent gathering for alumni of the college of mass communications of the west visayas state university, novie guazo felt he was a celebrity, and announced that he was willing to sign autographs if only the other alumni would form a single line! such brazen arrogance! this man’s ego is bloated beyond the size of his oversized head.

on rhod: after being chastised by top network management during the yearly conference for station managers and anchormen in mambucal, negros occidental, rhod tecson is slowly mending his ways and spending less time on his favorite activity —- lambasting and insulting individuals he doesn’t like. persons like governor tupas, dr. roger florete, his former colleagues at bombo, and not to be omitted, boy mejorada.

“listening to rhod, one easily discerns a change of style.. he is now even giving way for police reports on his program… in the past, he shunned reports from the field… all he wanted was to talk and talk and talk,” one radio broadcaster told me over beer.

well, it’s good to know that my views on broadcasting ethics are basically the same as the top network management of RMN. i hope that this will become a permanent change on the styles of rhod tecson.

  41. it’s good to know that tecson is trying to redeem himself. it’s a good thing we have blogs like this. it really hits the bullseye! on the otherhand, guazo is the first in line for having his ass kicked out if he won’t get over himself. talk about too much ego.

hopefully this would serve as a good lesson to other broadcasters, new and veterans. noone is unreplaceable. one should always deliver on the table the most and the best that can be done.

  42. the biggest mistake any professional can make is to think that he or she is indispensable. even in my own case, i always keep at the back of my mind that my position as provincial administrator is temporary. this attitude will change one’s personal attitudes and relationships with other people. there’s a saying that you shouldn’t step on those whom you encounter on your way up, because when you fall, they will be the same people you will encounter. be good to everybody. just don’t compromise your principles. honestly, i will not think twice about befriending the likes of rolex suplico, rhod tecson and novie guazo if only they will men their ways.

  43. A friend told me of this site. Thanks a lot! Hibionada made me feel inefficient and once said I am guilty of insubordination when she went to our department. I know very well she’s in cahoots with one of the supervisors here at COA, she always goes there and comes out with papers. She even ordered me to just fax it to her office (not sa News Today) and when I faxed it there, it was Office of Congressman Garin. I told her also about COA report on Syjuco’s tec-voc anomalies. She said “ah te daw wala ka pa kilala kay Syjuco” but if she is a real reporter she should report that. Now I know.
